South Texas FTC Regional

February 21 - February 22

We are excited to be hosting a dual division (Flowers / McAullife), 48 team FIRST Tech Challenge regional championship on February 21 and 22, 2020 at Royal Technologies in Mission, Texas. This invitational event is for teams that have competed and earned the opportunity at their league tournament.

Teams will receive at least 5 qualifying matches. Teams are expected to

Day 1:

3:00 pm Doors Open / Setup of Pits and Facility Tours
3:30 pm – Inspection Starts (Mechanical / Field)
4:00 pm – Drivers and Human Player Safety Meeting
4:30 pm – Judging Sessions Start
7:00 pm – Judging Sessions Stop
9:00 pm – Pits and Practice Fields Close

Day 2:

7:30 am – Doors Open / Pits Open
8:00 am – College and Recruitment Row Opens
8:15 am – Qualifying Matches Begin
11:30 am – Woman are FIRST event (Register here)
11:30 am – Lunch Break
12:30 pm – Doors open to the public
1:00 pm – Welcoming Ceremonies with Guest Speakers
1:00 pm – College and Recruitment Row Closes
1:30 pm – Matches Continue
3:15 pm – Alliance Selection / Semi-Finals / Finals
5:15 pm – Award Ceremony

Teams must have an engineering notebook for those awards that require them. All decisions by the judging panel / Judge Advisor / Head Referee are final.

Five teams will advance from this event to the 2020 FIRST World Championship in Houston, Texas in April 2020.

Inspire Award Eligibility: Teams that have won the Inspire Award at another event cannot be considered for the Inspire Award or as an Inspire Award Finalist for this event. All teams are eligible to be considered for all judged awards at the World Championship Tournament.

Submissions for the PROMOTE AWARD are due by February 18, 2020, at 11:59 PM CT.  The video must be published to a video host and an email with a link is due before the deadline. Email submissions to [email protected]

Create a one-minute Public Service Announcement (PSA) video that demonstrates the following sentence – “Why I Choose FIRST” The video should be a thoughtful and high-quality video that appeals to the general public. Strong production value is important, but the message and impact of the video are of greater weight for the judges. Creativity in interpreting the annually assigned theme is desired. A team must have rights to any music used in the video.
